Sonya Patton has been a mental health counselor and a life coach for seven years. She focuses on teens, adults, couples and families, She has experience working with diverse populations including LGBTQA+. Topics of counseling are trauma, relationships and couples and life challenges. Sonya believes that self-care is a large part of healing and transformation and mental health is as important as physical health.

She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Springfield College-Boston Campus teaching at the graduate level for the Mental Health & Counseling Program and the undergraduate level for the Human Services Program. These are adult educational programs that work with students across diverse cultures and disciplines with the hopes of becoming a licensed mental health clinician or human services practitioner.

For 18 years Sonya has worked in the Human Service field developing enrichment programs for individuals and families while building relationships with community organizations.

Sonya M. Patton is the founder and owner of Patton Consultant Services where she conducts training and workshops in the areas of Mental Health, Self-Care, Diversity & Inclusion, Cultural Competency, Social Emotional Learning, Safe Zone – LGBTQA+ for various organizations. Organizations Sonya has partnered with are: MassHousing, Boston Public Health Commission, Lowell General Hospital Saints, Lowell Community Charter Public School, Springfield College-Boston Campus, Boston Public Library and a region in the country of eSwatini Africa.

Sonya holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health & Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services/Youth Development from Springfield College.
